Independence Take-Home Thought- Chrisray Christian Awodi

WORLD CHANGERS
The world is alive
Alive unto truth
No fear of insecurity
No fear of the future
World changers crying
Out aloud
“Give us the tool and
We’ll change the world”
The leading star is vanishing
The speed is doubling, tripling
And now it is sky-rocking
Will this dying star once
Again brightens up?
Will it for once vibrate?
To shake off the shackles
And set forth the couriers
INTERLUDE
“The world is waiting
For you”
But first of all “give us the tool and we’ll
Change the whole wide world”

THE DYING LAND
Alas soul brother
Oh father
Behold the doom
Your trace is doomed in the room
Once known for tranquility
The sect is set strong still to strike
The raiders dreadfully determined to destroy
Oh father
Alas soul brother
To take our rightful portion
To whom has the Giver given the portion?
Soul brother
Raise your anthem aloud
And let not the done
Be again allowed
For ours is ours unto divinity
For this have we got through
The trinity
So raise your anthem aloud
And let not the done
Be again allowed
For continuous tranquility
Unto eternity.

CHEERS OF CHANGE
Here we are
Cornea filled with salty water
Lips filled with words of the weather
Minds filled with allusion
Thought careful for revolution
The present minded
The hands melted
“Cheers of Change”
The moments of challenge
“Cheers of Change”
Filled the air
All ready to be fair
All cry aloud
But the test of time never allowed.

Often times, we are bound to ask this very important question that has for sometimes now lingered in the heart of well meaning human beings on the basis of freedom and what it has to offer humanity on the grounds that it has been given by the Creator to stand and fight for the bourgeoisie, the proletariat, the well-to-do and the poor masses.
Now, the big question! Where is the FREEDOM? Is it hidden under the rock? Or is it lodging useless somewhere in the bush? Where is the change we’re all clamoring for? What about the incessant killings of our brothers even in cold blood? **(sobs…)** All these are big questions that have not found answers for some time now!
Therefore, the above poems discuss the various issues of concern bothering on Security, Change and proclamation of ironic freedom.
I am dedicating the poems to commemorate the 53rd Independence Anniversary of the precious Giant of Africa-Nigeria! The fatherland…!
World Changers discusses the interlude between the nation and the nation builders. The nation builders is the government and the nation is the nation’s offspring, for it is often said that the future is in the hands of the children but now the children are crying out loud that the needed tools are not readily available for utilization. They cannot just see themselves being the future transponders of good utilities when what should be is not. Imagine that great enemy of Educational progress-Labour STRIKE! As matter of fact, it needs to be cut off from the system.
The Dying Land is another poem that expounds the geographical head-butt in the various parts of the country. Benue, Nassarawa and other states have the Raiders to their necks and also the other states have the sect to their throats!
Cheers of Change finally satirizes the double minded soldiers (citizenry) who have the guns with them but are afraid to pull the trigger at what should be terminated.
I want to hereby wish the country a happy celebration and a hitch-free jubilation as we look out for greater possibilities ahead of every Nigerian who sees the future with high positive expectation!
Long Live
Nigerians, and
                          Federal Republic of Nigeria!
