Council chairman’s son, 6 others rape 18-yr-old girl in Nasarawa

The son of the chairman of one of the municipal areas in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, alongside six others are currently cooling their heels at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl.

Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that the incident, which occurred at Bukan-Sidi area around 11:30 p.m, made the girl unconscious for many hours before she
was revived by retinue of doctors at the Police Clinic, Jos road, the state capital.

Investigations further revealed that the victim, who was a maid at one of the beer parlours at Mummy market, directly opposite Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Ombi 1, Lafia, was deceived by one of the rapists to give her free-ride to Bukan-Sidi that night after she closed from work.

When contacted on the incident on phone, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ismail Numan, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), confirmed the incident, but declined comments on the identity of the suspects, saying two persons were arrested in connection with the incident, while others have taken to their heels.

He added that investigations had commenced to arrest the fleeing ones.

When asked on the quarry of the DPO and transfer of DCO, the PPRO said he was not aware of the quarry, and quickly added that transfer of an officer was an administrative bureaucracy which the CP might use his discretion whenever he wished.
