The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, CPA African Region, on Thursday, condemned the abduction of more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls by Boko Haram insurgents and urged the Federal Government to do everything humanly possible to rescue the abducted schoolgirls.
The CPA African Region also
frowned at the inability of the Federal Government to rescue the girls, who were reportedly abducted on the night of April 14, from Chibok Government Secondary School, Borno State.
This is even as the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians, CWP African Region, also joined in the call for the rescue of the abducted girls, with a strong voice in support of girl-child education.
The foregoing were some of the high points at the 45th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, CPA Africa Region Conference, holding in Arusha, Tanzania.

Nigeria delegation leader to the conference, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Emeka Ihedioha, however, said that the Federal Government was working assiduously to ensure that the girls were rescued and reunited with their parents.
According to him, security issues should not be divulged openly, as the government had been making efforts to bring all Nigerians together, to jointly tackle the security challenges, adding that the government had indeed, made great gains in the effort to make the security problem a national issue.
Ihedioha noted that, Nigerians were now on one page, having seen what government had achieved so far, stressing that Federal Government had also reached out to neighbouring countries on the need to jointly address the problem of insecurity.
He said that most of the insurgents had been established to be from “our neighbouring countries.”
